Some past (and
passed) course students' comments:
"Awesome! Just what
was absolutely necessary for the pass!
I want to take this
opportunity to express my gratitude for the excellent job you did for
me. If it was not for you I would not pass all of the essays in one go,
if any at all!
The course was excellently supplied and prepared."
- Valentin, Milton
Keynes
"Just
to let you know I passed all 3 essay exams this morning. Thanks
very much for all of your help. I wouldn't have stood a chance
without your guidance. Thanks for doing a great job."
Dave Burnett

"Passed both essay
modules 7 and 10.
I wouldn't have

Why should I do a
course?
You can, of course, attempt the exam without doing a
course, but our experience is that most people have many pre-conceived ideas
about what the CAA are expecting in an essay, which turn out to be far from
correct. Many people have bad habits when it comes to writing essays, and
many aircraft technicians have not written an essay since they were at school,
and even then, "What I did in my summer holidays" is probably not what the CAA are looking
for.
Often, technicians simply cannot find the motivation to
sit down on their own (for several days) and practice the answers to the essay
questions, especially as they are not really sure if they are writing in the
correct style, or including the appropriate technical content. Having an
expert on hand to guide and review each essay answer is a huge boon, as well as
the fact, that you are forced, through an intensive three day period, to sit, in
a pleasant and conducive environment, among several like minded and motivated
people, to practice... practice... practice.
From our experience of conducting dozens of Essay Writing
Courses, your chance of passing all the essays on first attempt is markedly
improved. The alternative is to sit the CAA exam several times, at
considerable cost, feeling your way and changing your writing style until
eventually you find one that passes, or you can enjoy a three day experience in
a relaxed atmosphere, meet some new people doing exactly the same as you, and
pick up the tips and styles that have worked for many people before.

What is the format of the course?
It is 4-days, starting at 8.00am (9.00am on the first day)
and finishing around 4.45pm, with an hour for lunch. It starts with a
presentation on technical essay writing styles, techniques, hints and tips.
This is followed by essay answer examples with reviews. Then, using the
CAA's recently asked questions as a vehicle for learning, you will practice the
essay writing for yourselves, with reviews and critiques after each practice
(don't worry, we don't name and shame!).
Within the 4-day course period, you will have
practiced and corrected, each of the CAA's recent questions, plus some of their
older examples as appropriate.
- Day 1 is the introductory presentation, and general
essay writing styles, hints, tips and practice exercises. This day is
compulsory, unless you have previously attended the course.
- Day 2 is Human Factors (Module 9) essay
tuition.
- Day 3 is Aircraft Regulations (Module 10) essay
tuition.
- Day 4 is Maintenance Practices (Module 7) essay
tuition.
If you are attending just one or two days after the Day-1
introductory day, you may still attend the class on the days you do not need,
and do some preparation study. There is plenty of space at the class venue
for you to study on your own. The instructor will provide you some
assistance as time allows.

At what point in my
studies, should I attempt the essay exam?
As soon as possible. It is not necessary to have
passed the associated multiple choice exams, nor even have studied for them
(although that is an advantage).
Should I apply to sit ALL the essay exams on the same day?
We suggest you attempt ALL the essay questions together.
There are several advantages in doing this, which will be explained to you on
the course. Any that you are unfortunate to fail, can be picked up by
booking their re-sit along with your next multiple choice module exam that you
book.
Do I do the exam with you, or should I
book it with the CAA as normal?
We are not approved to carryout examinations on behalf of
the CAA, so you will need to book that with the CAA. Booking the exam with the
CAA is your responsibility, and we suggest you do that at your earliest
convenience. We strongly recommend that you book the exam sitting which is
the day following the course. The nearest CAA exam venue is the
Shuttleworth College, just 15 minutes drive away. Alternatively you can
book your exam at either Gatwick or Oxford.
There is a train (several times per hour) direct to Gatwick Airport from the course location in Bedford
(2-hours). Oxford is also about 2 hours away by coach, which run every hour. If
you can travel off-peak, Gatwick by train is the cheapest.
Can I attend just one (or two,
or three) of the days if I
have already passed one or more of the essay modules?
Yes, the payment page allows you to pre-book, and pay for,
the course days individually. You choose the days you wish to attend as
required. However, the first day is compulsory, and you must attend at
least one other day (i.e. you cannot attend just the first day), as the information in this introductory
day contains some invaluable techniques, hints and tips.
Do I get a list of the CAA's recently
asked questions?
Yes, you get a list of all the questions the CAA have
asked in the last 2 years or so, with those most recently asked highlighted. You will have practiced all the recent questions by the end of the course.
Will I need to do any additional study,
either before or after the course?
The course is designed to be intensive and self contained.
However, some people like to have a good read of the course reading material
prior to the course commencement. This allows more intensive effort to be
put into the essay writing styles and techniques rather than the subject matter.
To allow for this, we provide you with 1-month of free access to the Essay
Section of club66pro.co.uk (with Tutorial Support), to be commenced at any time
before the course (after you have paid your course fee deposit). All the
reading material and several subject tips are provided in the Tutorial Support
section as downloadable material, for you to study at your leisure, prior to the
course commencement.
Just email us to tell us you want to be set-up on the
Essay Section, whenever you are ready.
Whilst this is not compulsory, it will certainly ensure
that you get the most of the relatively short time you will be in the classroom.
Will I get access to the
club66pro.co.uk Essay section, as a part of the course?
Yes, you get 1 month free access to the Essay section of
club66pro.co.uk, including the associated Tutorial Support section. So you
will continue to get support after the course, and you will be able to see if
the questions have changed any, in the few months after you practice them on the
course. You can commence the 1 month free membership at any
within a 3-month period after the course has finished. This is useful if
you have not booked your exam for the day immediately after the course, or you
fail one or more of the essay questions, and re-sit it at the next 3-month
option. However, our 6 years of experience of delivering Essay Writing
courses, and passing hundreds of people, has told us that the majority of our
students do not need to take advantage of the free membership because they pass
all essays in the first go.

Where is the course held?
The course is held in the county town of Bedford, at the
Star Rowing club. It is a very pleasant learning environment, both in the classroom, and the venue setting. Bedford is on the main rail line from both Luton and London
and there's even a train direct to Gatwick. Click
here for more details about the location and how to get there.
Note that there are TWO rowing clubs in Bedford.
Please make sure you turn up at the correct one.
Where is the nearest
CAA examination centre?
Shuttleworth College, just outside Bedford. It is
about 15 minutes drive. Since there is no public transport there, we can
arrange a lift to this exam centre on the morning or afternoon of the exam
(usually the Friday after the course), and return you to your hotel/B+B, or to
the Bedford train/bus station. Arrangements for this will be made during the
course.
Does the course teach the technical
subject matter of the essay questions, as well as the essay writing techniques?
Yes, all necessary documents and sources of information
are provided as handouts, so even if you have never personally carried out some
of the tasks you are asked to write about, at least you will have read about
them prior to attempting to write an essay on them. Additionally, each essay
question is preceded by a discussion and presentation on the necessary technical
content and available options in answering the question.
Do I need
to have studied or passed the respective multiple choice exams prior to doing
the essay course?
No, you don't need to have passed them. Having
studied them is an advantage, especially for Module 9 and 10, but not essential.
I'd like to sign-up. How does the
payment work?
Choose which dates you would like to attend. Make
sure you can get the time off work first, then simply click the Go to payment
page at top of this page. Follow the online instructions to make a payment by credit or debit
card.
Alternatively, you can download the cheque/draft/PO payment
form and send us a cheque or bankers draft. This sometimes causes problems if
very close to a course date, as there is a surge of bookings at this time, and
courses sometimes fill up in the time it takes for the cheque to arrive in the
post. Please book early to avoid such disappointment.
Can I get a refund of the deposit if I
subsequently cannot attend?
The deposit is NOT refundable. However, if you pay
the course cost IN FULL, and you cannot attend for any reason, the course cost
will be refunded, minus the deposit.
How do I get to the venue?
Click
here to view full details about the venue.
Is there parking space at the venue?
Yes, and it's free.
Do you provide "model
answers" to all the current essay questions?
No. We do not provide any "model answers". The
course is designed to develop your essay writing skills. It is not for
remembering someone else's answers to questions. The CAA examiners can spot a "model
answer" a mile away, and will fail you for it. Our aim is to develop your
own style and your own answers to existing questions, and any new question
that you may be presented with on the day of the exam.
If all you want to do is see how someone else has answered
the questions, and remember them, then this is not the course for you.
Please do not enrol.
I am not able to
attend a course, but can I buy the course notes?
There are no course notes other than those that are
downloadable in the Essay section of the Tutorial Support service supplied as a
separate service on this website. The course consists of instructor led
seminars and guidance and much writing practice and review.
Can you help me get to the exam centre at
Shuttleworth College on the Friday after the course?
The instructor will provide transport for a limited number
of people (one car load) on the (usually) Friday morning and/or afternoon, and back to Bedford. There may
also be other people on the course with a car, who is staying at Bedford for the
course, who will be able to help with transport to and from the exam venue.
Arrangements will be made during the course.
